A grid-connected solar system converts energy from sunlight to DC power, which is then transformed into AC electricity via an inverter, to power your household. If your solar system produces more power than you are using, excess electricity is fed back into the grid returning a credit or payment to you, known as a solar feed in tariff or FIT.  If your home needs more power than your solar panels are producing, electricity will be drawn directly from the electricity grid to supplement the solar produced power. At night time when the solar system is not making power, all your electricity comes from the grid.

Heat flow consists of three mechanisms—conduction, convection and radiation. Most insulation will work by slowing the way conductive heat is absorbed to your home, therefore reducing the amount of heat that escapes in winter and protecting it from getting too warm in summer.

Insulation falls into two main categories—bulk and reflective. An insulation batt comes under the bulk category. Batts are designed to fit between joists, rafters or studs, and keep your home cool in summer, and warm in winter.
